“Then the King will say to those on his right “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” […] “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” “ – Matthew 25:34-45
Whatever we do for others is for Jesus like we are doing it for HIM. This shows: Jesus identifies himself with the needy, with the weak, the poor, the prisoners. If God loves them so much, then how could we look away?
As Christians we have to think about what it means to live and love like Jesus. Jesus lived a lifestyle of love. HE always cared about the needs of others.
God cares for the hurting. So much that he gave up his own life to save them.
Jesus really showed us what it means to LOVE.
So often we only ask what we’re gonna get out of it. How many times do we look for our own advantage and benefit, caring only about ourselves? That’s how we humans are. But the Jesus-lifestyle is to put others first before your own needs, wishes, dreams, rights, desires. Don’t let yourself be driven by a selfish ambition but ask God to give you a generous and a compassionate heart. And to let you see the world in the way HE sees it.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And love your neighbour as you love yourself. Do this and you’ll live.”-Luke 10:27+37
If you love God with all your being it will overflow and extend to others.
Jesus wants to give us a compassionate heart that compels us to put LOVE into action, to help the needy, to heal the hurt, to fight for the rights of the oppressed and to be a voice for the voiceless.
“If anyone then knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”-James 4:17-
There is always something you can do- maybe far away but also right where you are, just wherever you are. Let God open your eyes and show you the many possibilities right before your feet. There is a reason why you are where you are right now. It is selfish to think that you can’t do anything. In fact all we have is God’s. You are blessed to be a blessing to others.
HOW MANY TIMES DO WE PASS BY ON SOMEONE WE COULD HELP OR DO GOOD?
It is always easier to do nothing, yes. But as children of God we just CAN’T look away. We HAVE TO care!
When we have a look at the heart of Jesus Christ it is always about people. His heart was so full of love and passion for other people.
God loves us with an overpowering love. HIS love will never be less, it always goes on and it doesn’t care about what you did or who you are. God is so full of love for us that HE could never stop to save us.
Because of God’s great love for us we can love others. We can care, we can help, we can act, we can make a difference, we can step out of our comfort zones, to do whatever God calls us to do in the lives of the people in need. Just look around you. There is always something YOU can do.
I wanna be driven by the love and the compassion of Jesus Christ. I want to love others like HE did, to care about them like HE did, and to be there for them like HE was there. Every human being is dealing with brokenness. Keep your eyes open for possibilities you can help other people in their brokenness. That’s exactly what JESUS did.
We need to love others without regard toward the other person is like- a stranger, a prisoner, an outsider… Because true love goes beyond race, colour, religion, background and status. It sees the preciousness of a human being.
Go out there. Right in front of your door are plenty of people in need, plenty of people you can help and for who you be a light, plenty of people whose life could be forever changed because of you.
Don’t turn back to your pushing self. Don’t look for your advantage. If you care about people in need, God will take care about you: “But seek first HIS kingdom and HIS righteousness and everything else will be given to you as well.” –Mt 6:33-
Where are the hungry, the thirsty, the strangers, the ones in need of clothes, the prisoners, the sick- YOU can help? Where can you live out what the bible is telling us and put love into action?
We all have something to give because God has already been giving his love to us. Now it’s our time to sacrifice, to open our eyes, to step out of our comfort zone and to do whatever God calls us to do. Everything we do for THEM we actually do for GOD.
The next time you see a person in need- will you stop or will you just pass by?
DO YOU CARE?
